Castillos en el aire (Castles on the air)

Quiso volar, igual que las gaviotas, (He wanted to fly, like the gulls,)
libre en el aire, por el aire libre. (Free in the air, by the air free)
Y los demás dijeron: pobre idiota, (And the others said: poor idiot,)
no sabe que volar, es imposible (he doesn’t know flying it’s impossible)

Pero extendió sus alas hacia el cielo (But he spread his wings towards the sky)
poco a poco fue ganando altura (little by little he was gaining height)
y los demás quedaron en el suelo (and the others remained on the ground)
guardando la cordura. (Keeping sanity.)

Y construyó castillos en el aire... (And he build castles on the air)
a pleno sol, en nubes de algodón (in the sun, on cotton clouds)
en un lugar a donde nunca nadie (in a place where no one ever)
pudo llegar usando la razón. (Could come using reason.)

Y construyó ventanas fabulosas, (And he build faboulus windows)
llenas de luz, de magia y de color (full of light, magic and colour)
y convocó al duende de las cosas (and he called for the goblin of things)
que tienen mucho que ver con el amor. (That has so much to do with love)

En los demás, al verlo tan dichoso, (On the others, on having seeing at him so happy)
cundió la alarma, se dictaron normas, (alarm spread, norms were dicated)
no fuera a ser que sea contagioso (it could be contagious)
tratar de ser feliz de aquella forma.(Trying to be happy that way)

La conclusión, fue clara y contundente (The conclusion was clear and forceful)
lo condenaron por su chifladura, (he was condemned by his madness)
a convivir de nuevo con la gente (t olive again with people)
vestido de cordura. (Dressed of sanity.)

Por construir castillos en el aire (For building castles on the air)
a pleno sol, en nubes de algodón (in the sun, on cotton clouds)
en un lugar a donde nunca nadie (in a place where no one ever)
pudo llegar usando la razón. (Could come using reason.)

Por construir ventanas fabulosas. (For building faboulus windows)
llenas de luz, de magia y de color (full of Light, magic and colour)
y convocar al duende de las cosas (and for calling at the goblin of things)
que tienen mucho que ver con el amor. (That has so much to do with love.)

Así termina la historia del idiota (Ah this is how the idiot’s story ends)
que libre en el aire, por el aire libre (who free on the air, by the air free)
quiso volar igual que las gaviotas, (wanted to fly like the gulls)
pero eso es imposible. (But that’s imposible.)
